The Divided Soul: Angels, Demons & the Struggle Within
A bearded, feather-winged man sits forward with his cheek supported by one hand, elbow resting on his knee. His other hand hangs between his legs and his gaze drops toward the ground. Above and behind him, a horned demon bends close with its mouth open and both clawed hands raised in a persuasive, animated gesture. Pale feathers and draped fabric frame the inward-looking figure beneath the demon’s batlike wings.
The composition turns inner conflict into an argument between persistent temptation and a weary conscience. The demon’s speaking posture suggests rationalization: the voice that makes resentment, indulgence or avoidance sound reasonable. The man does not answer. His stillness holds the tension between being drawn into that argument and finding the clarity to refuse it. The shared red palette makes the exchange feel psychological, intimate and unresolved.
